Composer and saxophonist Michael Brecker who was 57, passed away this morning. He had been fighting myelodysplastic syndrome, a form of cancer for nearly 3 years. In the end he succumbed to a form of leukemia.
He was, besides being the most remarkable tenor player I have ever heard, a wonderful father, a good husband, a thoughtful mentor and someone who I have the honor of calling a friend. His words would make me laugh and his playing would make me cry. He will be missed, often remembered and never forgotten.
