Filling an old space
Not so easy to do:
Time’s river flows fast.
Summer’s heat burns through
The grass, yellow and brittle
Waits for winter rain.
My voice betrays me
What am I feeling today?
My words stop, no clue.
The heat, now below
Rough air ahead, seat belts on
Clouds gather and wait
Brown skin in the air
Making it harder to breathe
The sunset dire red.
Gray cat looks regal
Perched upon the pillow
Eyes closed and purring.
Her naked thigh shown
My heart jumps and smiles wide
I know gratitude.
