So many words
The thoughts attached
Hidden feelings become a chance
To be stronger

To open your eyes yet again
To possibility
To realize that the sleepwalking
Can now be over
The burden of loss carried like timbers
Across your back
Put aside

To know that the sun can touch you
The light and life return to you
It can be clear what you’re made of
Accepting your part, the price of education grows
You now know what is yours
And what is not

Nothing has changed except perception
The same face looks back
But is alive
Born of art and the blood of poetry
Rusty steel waves and not thinking
For an afternoon

The light appears to hit the building differently
It’s just the eyes really seeing
For the first time
In a long time.
