Following the election there have been many posts and opinions shared by nearly everyone. Often the most thoughtful take a moment to digest what has occurred and think about what to say. Singer and songwriter David Byrne posted this today and it is cautious, loving and hopeful. I’m passing it on because I think it’s important to read.

In other cultures the artists, musicians and poets often lead the charge in reform and revolution. The governments know this and often silence them because their words can bring together the people scattered by corruption, poverty and hopelessness. The US is odd in that poets have often only an decorative position and the musicians are told to shut up and sing. The last I checked in a democracy everyone has a voice, even if only one person will listen to them.
