In my recent experiments with Twitter, I received a link from Robert Scoble (of Scobleizer and Podtech fame) to a video stream being run by Jeremiah Owyang from Web Strategist.com and Podtech.net. It directed me to Ustream.tv and I signed in as a guest to this guy who was streaming from his house. The video was fast, only a 3 second delay and we were all interacting through the chat box below the window. It was by far the most interactive experience I’ve had online for a very long time. They were using a very simple set up with a $100 webcam and going through Ustream.tv’s website on a browser. He and Scoble have gone mobile, using an EVDO card and taping the webcam to a hat.

I’ve wanted to bring some kind of video into the Bitterman world and this looks like a way to do it… I could bring live video to the mix from around the world…

Though I don’t know these people it was really interesting to interact with them last night and today. It might just be another burst of attention to this new ability to connect, but it really feels like something is taking off here. As bad and bottlenecked as our connections are on the road, I may try to use this service to bring you sights and sounds from the road…
