I was thinking about the fact that we all seem to go through phases when there is either  loss or no loss that touches us. As we get older, it does seem to become more frequent. It is a part of life. Not that this is a spot for obituaries but I felt I should pass on a few touring related notices that were passed on to me.

Roger Waters head of security, Darrell Ives, (listed in the Tour Programme as Security / Assistant) was found dead of a heart attack in his Hong Kong hotel room the day after Roger’s concert there. The following is the extract from the local English Newspaper The South China Morning Post (behind a paywall), Friday February 16th 2007.

Member of Roger Waters’ tour party found dead

A member of former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters’ world tour party has been found dead in a Wan Chai hotel a day after the artist held his Hong Kong concert. Police said the 50-year-old man, who was only identified by the name of Ives, was found unconscious in his room at the Grand Hyatt Hotel by hotel security and the tour manager at about lunchtime after he failed to show up for a meeting with friends. He was certified dead at the scene. A police spokeswoman said a preliminary investigation did not reveal anything suspicious and a postmortem examination would be conducted after the holidays. There were reports he might have died of a heart attack.
