Being from Dallas the subject of Santiago Calatrava is a touchy one, with his three bridges to nowhere (sorry South Dallas) going over budget and seeming to be only an artistic statement. He does beautiful work; here in Valencia (where he is from) he created the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences), a complex of remarkable buildings built in a dry river bed that cuts Valencia in two.
Though these Blackberry Pearl 1 meg photos are not really of any great quality (did I mention I forgot my other camera when I left the states?), they do capture the other worldly nature of the El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and the L'Hemisfèric...

Why have there been so few show and travel updates this time around?
Two reasons actually... the first was my vacation which was pretty much
internet free and now here at work connections are somewhat difficult.
Here is where nearly 50 people are Skyping home, downloading TV shows
and checking their e-mail... can you see the problem? Look closely...
