from Om Malik:

I saw the news article too; Steve Case trying to sell the idea of breaking up Time Warner AOL into 4 or 5 pieces. Having seen the same move made on a smaller level (the purchase/sale/merger) in where the larger company ends up holding the bag and not getting what they thought they bought, it seems like a brilliant ripoff that doesn't care what happens to the company, the people and the customers. You have to hope that karma gets these kind of guys and what's left of their kind of "successful" business.
Om Malik once again takes this story and gives his thoughts on how binding the parts together to make a single strong effort would make better sense...

Et Tu Steve Case?.

Oh, and if don't listent to Om's podcast about tech with Niall Kennedy, you should.
If you enjoy the Gilmor Gang and TWIT, it's right up that alley with a focus on broadband based things...
