I moved the Frappr box up the side column so it's easier to get to. Any of you who haven't stuck your personal coordinates in, please do so; it's great to know where you're at! If you don't want to be involved account-wise, click the free account box off...

from Boing Boing and Xeni Jardin:

Both Dave Slusher from Evil Genius Chronicles and I pointed to the remarkable photos and story of Clayton James Cubitt and his family's Katrina experience. Dave interviewed him as well. He moved from his Louisiana home to New York City to pursue his career. His return to Louisana to help his family produced remarable photos and put a human face on just one of the many thousands of struggles that continue in the Gulf region. Now word comes that because the trailer he bought his Mom is in his name and his residence is New York, FEMA isn't going to pony up any relief money.
I know this isn't the only story like this (With 18 of 40 billion out and the agency saying there isn't anymore), but I pass it on because the man's art touches me and we all need to remember that it isn't back to normal there yet, if ever. The same can be said for the Tsunami areas...

Here's a link to Xeni's Article at Boing Boing...

And a link to Clayton's blog as well. to first-person account.

Read it, look at the photos, help if you can, remember that there are a lot of people displaced all over the globe this year... sorry you didn't get that really great parking space at the mall...

from Boing Boing, Cory Doctorow, and Gizmodo:

We knew they were coming but it doesn't really sink in until you see the catalog shot... perhaps this would be the right guitar for that band you work for with the word "blood" or "filth" in their name... JD would have said no... and yet it would be great for a Metallica cover band...
