The amazing thing about this job, this life I
lead is the people. Yesterday was three-fold; podcasters Michael Butler
and his daughter Martina (The Rock & Roll Geek Show and Emo Girl Talk
respectively) came to visit the last Foozer shindig in Oakland last
night. They got to see the band in fine form, a guitar sacrifice and
male strippers galore. The next group is the Foo Crew: Joe, Sean, Geof,
Yeti, Rodney, Claire, Gus, Bailey,Big Daddy, Wiley, Brian, Ian, Dribble
and all the rest, you are a great group of people and thank you for
treating us so well. After the last case made it to the dock I swung
down to production to try to figure out why the last podcast wasn't
hittin' the streets. I felt a hand clamp down on both of my shoulders;
I turned and saw two black draped visions of roadie perfection: MK and
Chainsaw had wandered all the way over from the San Jose/ Mountain View
area where they were working on the Bridge School benefit.
They didn't want to see the show, didn't even enter
the noise filled arena; they slipped through five levels of security
(and talked their way through the last) to see little old me...
go figure. Good people and true friends are so hard to find. The road
is famous for long lists of aquaintances but is in fact the birthplace
of some amazing life long friendships. I am blessed with a few myself.
Thanks to Michael and Ricky for reminding me of that fact. Thanks to
the Foo Crew for giving me the chance to build new ones; and thanks to
Michael and Martina for making me feel that podcasting continues to
bring the opportunity for more.
