I know, I know, I know... bad roadie, post more often.
We've all been totally wiped out by our trans-hemispherical
flying-concert-tv-submarine-ride week and are all trying to fend off
various chest-based cruds. Flying in airplanes with air filters older than Paris Hilton,
venues with world class dust collections and then the return to the
tour bus and its break-in period of "bus lung"... not really whining,
but looking at the facts that lead to the inevitable health issues.
Kimmel
went well despite the traditional "too-many-cooks" LA experience...
they played, they flew in the air, they wandered out into the crowd.
The outdoor stage is behind the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood; we
experienced rain, sun but no surf. The Kimmel people were excited as
they had learned that they were renewed for another year by the
network... nice to know you still have a job.
One thing I didn't know was that the quiet man
sitting beside the tower in front of the stage smoking a cigar was the
director of the show. I thought I recognized him; I had met him 15
years ago in a recording studio where he was working on a comedy album.
We had a very nice conversation then... and a nice one on Monday. For a
guy who had/had not been banned from a talk show in the past to be
directing one now is quite Hollywood in it's own way. It was quite nice
to see Bobcat Goldthwait after so many years.
