from the BBC:

Steve Jobs attacks record firms. They want to up the price... perhaps they would like some help holding the knife while they cut their own throats...

Originally pointed out to me by none other than Gary G., The book The Future of Music: Manifesto For The Digital Music Revolution is more than a compelling read for industry types, music fans and techno-geeks. It's really a revealing look at how tech ends up pushing big business to change their business models or die. Besides some great quotes from smart people, stats to make you wonder why people even dream of rock stardom and some interesting facts (ASCAP was created to battle and regulate radio as it was going to "destroy" the music business), it's a well thought out plan for these giant product sellers to morph into service companies and survive the digitization of everything. The authors, David Kusek and Gerd Leonhard now have their own website and have begun serializing the book in podcast form for you listening types at this RSS feed.
I have really enjoyed this book and think it is a must read for musicians, podcasters and roadies.

(thanks to Mark Forman from Getting a Leg Up and the Disembodied Voices Podcasting Group for the point to the podcast!)

Well, we're down here now, in the wonderful Polanco district and did a TV shoot for Hard Rock Live Mexico today. A small group of fans came this afternoon for a performance of 4 songs, a look at some classic videos and a bandwide interview.                                                             The image [base

As TV is the ultimate in Hurry-Up-And-Wait (actually Film is pretty bad too), it was your typical 7 hours for a 1/2 hour of video wackiness. Tomorrow is the actual arena show a la Japan, a small portion of our own gear and rental stuff. Brazil will be even less of our stuff as it won't be able to make it back to the states in time for further TV and the Foos tour...
Been listening to a bunch of Brazillian music to get in the mood for Curitiba. I'm dancin' through life...

Sir Paul McCartney fell through a piano pit hole onstage yesterday, alledgedly holding the Hofner...he was slightly injured and asked that the crew put up a picket fence around the hole from now on...
