As I was writing the previous post I had the Friday night disaster concert on in the background as I wanted to hear the Foos ("Born on the Bayou"), Paul Simon ("Take Me To The Mardi Gras") and Neil Young. Then to my surprise I heard the piano and voice of Mac (Dr. John) and my typing came to a complete halt.

I have had the honor of touring on the same bill with him and know him as a warm, funny and extremely talented man. He was singing "Walking To New Orleans" with such subtlety and beauty that I couldn't take my eyes off it. His eyes had a thousand yard stare quality that I've never seen in him before, this man who has seen so much.

Before the song was over, I was greeted by the face and voice of Mark McGrath, the marginally tolerable singer of the group Sugar Ray and now a cub reporter for one of those horrible "entertainment" shows thats on every weeknight around 7:30...

Hey Networks: I understand that one hour of no ad revenue in prime time is a large monetary hit for you to take but let the man finish his fucking song.

Shame on you.

If you had the volume turned up and weren't just looking at the last seconds of time on the clock, you'd know you were screwing up. Do the right thing and get the whole song posted somewhere. I think that the Fashion Show concert could have waited (forever in fact).

Shame on you,
make it right
and listen to what you're broadcasting (yup, beyond curse words and criticizing the government...)

Sorry to take so much time in providing an update on the start of the tour but we (the crew) were put in the position of having to crunch a few days work into a few hours. Show #1 is now in the books; eight trucks of sound, lights, video, lasers and music equipment are now rolling through the south to present the Foo Fighters and Weezer in an arena setting.
I thought that the Kaiser Chiefs were going to be with us from the start but they don't hook up with us until after the break on the West Coast. A young Virgina band called Mae opened the proceedings and will be with us for both Florida dates. Weezer goes on second with a full set with a few new surprises from last time around (everybody sings one, etc., etc.) The Foos are a full bore rock band with a great light show and an interesting video presentation in a non- traditional configuration. I don't want to spoil the show for those who may go, but it's a full evening of music and I'm sure I'll post a photo or two of the rig here on PIBC.
Tomorrow is Sunrise, FL and then to the Tampa/St.Pete/St. Augustine triangle before shooting through the damaged gulf to Texas for a few shows.
