from ben barren - rss'ing down under:

MPFree when Free.
  .
Even the Washington Post is covering it...

"Apple Computer Inc. plans to buy as much as 40 percent of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s flash memory output in the second half for its new flash-based iPod Mini MP3 player..."

Samsung makes the iriver flash-based mp3 player/recorder which I continue to feel is a good value and a good little piece of gear... and it works under the English Channel!!!

from  Scott Rosenberg:

Earlier today I received an invitation from a podcasting friend to the new Google/Gmail voice chat world. I pressed the link and not only found out that the servers were no longer online (well, launch days are rarely perfect) but that as a Mac OSX user, I was unable to use the application... Windows only.

Scott Rosenburg looks at this in detail and points to Jason Kottke's thoughts as well. These companies have such cool web-based apps going (gmail, flickr, etc.) and Skype has a OSX version, so why be short sighted and close out a group of people (though a small group, they can be somewhat influential)?

Google's Windows-only world.

from RollingStone:

Yup, having Euro-style fests in the states seems to be profitable for the people putting them on, but is it the same without the mud of Glastonbury and Roskilde, the open urinials of Torhut and Wechter or the fire marshalls of PinkPop? It's like having an ipod full of songs and getting smashed and sunburned with 30,000 to 80,000 of your closest friends...
