As a reward for a job well done in Paris last night, Air
France cancelled our extremely reasonable 12:20 flight to Vienna... the
solution was an earlier flight on Austrian Air which had us up at 7:00.
The bright side is that we get into town at a reasonable hour to
promote wandering, shopping, eating and spacing out. I'd like to do a
little of all of those, though my need to sleep may take them all out
of the running. Last night's hotel had a novel approach to internet
access in that they charged you about 60 cents a minite with a maximum
of 23 Euros. I suggest that you not try this if you are even marginally
sleepy. Of course the Wi-Fi at De Gaulle is pay through the nose, but
Vienna is free airport-wide. We'll stay in the city this evening and
drive to the gig early tomorrow morning which is an hour or so outside
of town. As we are not as aggro as some of our festival-mates, we will
have to prepare to be assaulted by the kids. This part of the world is
good about throwing plastic bottles full of pee, turf and whatever else
they can find to express their love for us. After landing and grabbing a cup of coffee, into the
van we went... the driver spent the whole drive in a series of phone
calls. We began to realize that he might be calling to find out the
location. We saw some places more than once from different
directions...could it be? Did they send someone who didn't know where
he was going? Nahhh, couldn't be... My room is decorated with a plank of wood...very Twin Peaks. Off to eat and/or wander around...
