We're here in the desert, the Coachella Festival 2005. Today we share the stage with The Ravonettes, Keane, Wilco, Bauhaus, Coldplay and others. It's a warm spring desert day with plenty of burning sun. Thank God for sunscreen and space blankets.
As this is my first time here, let me give you some impressions. The grounds are very nice and the festival itself is very big and spread out. Our bus is parked a half a mile from the stage and catering is about a mile walk in the opposite direction. With water, coffee, sunscreen and some electricity, we will be able to take on all who face us. Bobby and I have done a few of these and have sequestered ourselves in the back of our semi, our guitars safely out of the sun's reach for now. I found some wireless signal and decided to post this and a few initial pictures... more later as it gets crispier...

Well, the warmups have gone great and the band is ready for the deal in the desert tomorrow whether they think so or not. Tonight's show was a bit different, a song from "Maladroit" finally made the show and the show's end was mostly new songs. The SF fans were great, giving the new stuff a listen and singing along with the old stuff. The Warfield is in a tough neighborhood and load out is often like a scene from HBO America Undercover. We got on the bus and headed south, into the desert... next report, Indio, CA...
