Salon.com points out that we may have hit an all time low:TV on crack.
A&E's new reality TV show "Intervention" has already recieved the following comments...
"It makes
prime-time sport of vulnerable, desperate people and their spiral to
the bottom,"- Boston Globe
"scream-and-shout
television at its worst, a depressing hour trying to pass itself off as
a show offering helpful therapy."- Rocky Mountain News
"vile little exercise in debasement" and an "emotional
snuff film." - L.A. Times
If anyone has lived through having an addict in
their lives or their family, you would know that this is about as
entertaining as having bowling balls hammered up your ass. I realize
that the TV watching public has proven that they want to be titulated
and made to feel better about themselves by seeing how screwed up
someone else is. I'm sure the creators think that they are going to
help people and perhaps they will, but do we need to see how low people
will go to cop drugs and then use that to sell beer and soap ads?
