Last Year I saw these guys open for A Perfect
Circle; they were given an hour, they took and hour and played 3 songs.
They stretched, they burned, they held my attention the whole time.
Like many of my age group who grew up listening to Prog Rock on
headphones and staring at the wall, there hasn't been many groups who
even TRY to take you anywhere anymore. From the ruins of At The Drive
In rose two bands; Sparta, who opened for Weezer in the summer of 2002
and kicked some ass; and the Mars Volta.
The Mars Volta is
headlining a tour of growing preportions. It is not a band to listen to
in the backround; heck, I was listening to their last CD at the gym
most days! I guess it's not a good idea to be on the weight bench next
to me...check out the new record or see them, if you like a challenge
and want to see some young guys mix it up.
