I'm beginning to get an idea as to what I want
Bitterman Circle to be when it grows up. I think it's about time that
the travelling entertainment community has a place for valid news and
comment about the world they pass through. It would encompass music,
travel, business and regulation changes as it relates to the touring
professional.
We exist in a world where security regulations
effect how we pack, how who owns the building we're working in can
change how we have to do our jobs and how mobile technologies like cell
phones, Wi-Fi, VOIP and how they work all over the world can mean the
difference between our families reaching us in a timely manner or us
getting or losing a job.
We often end up doing the R&D on the services
we use for each other. How better to find out how a cell provider's
coverage is than being in five different towns in a week with both
rural and urban settings. Has anyone else ever experienced being at a
venue which is sponsored by a Telecom and everyone who uses another
service has drop outs all day long while those who have the sponsors
have perfect reception? Talk about home field advantage...
Someone was quite wise to figure out that Wi-Fi was
the best way to keep roadies out of the production office...even
printer networking in a stadium is a great way to cut back on having to
drag out everything in your workbox!
Anyway, more later, I'm beginning to blab...any of
you touring pros who have suggestions or topics we can look into here,
pass them on and this can be the place to discuss it. Shoot me an
e-mail, lets get this started!
